Core i7 or Core 2

I have seen a lot of people who are confused as to which processor is better for them, the new Core i7 or the older Core 2 Duo or Quad. The answer to this question is quite simple, do you really need the Core i7. For most people the answer should be no because it is a bit overkill at this time. Maybe later on as more applications come out suited to this new processor will it be worth the money. For now, even if you buy outdated technology, the Core 2 series is perfect for gaming and photo editing. The extra money you save not buying DDR3 RAM and a more expensive processor can be better spent on a nice video card, monitor or any accessories such as sound cards or larger hard drives. This will bring a much more noticeable performance difference to your computer than the Core i7 processor. if you have the money though, by all means go out and buy the Core i7 but right now there is just no point to it.
